Diets can be maddening because they make it so difficult to stick to your convictions. The plan looks great, with a limit on calories or grams of fat per day and a list of prohibited or acceptable edibles. But when offered a piece of pie, you give in to the temptation, forgetting your diet and your resolution to lose weight. This struggle is real. It’s war.
The beginning of the Bible tells all about the origin of the world, life, people, and wo...

This morning I read the book of Jude. It is a book that I have only read a time or two and I am not sure why. It may be because it is such a short book having only one chapter. As I read Jude it spoke to me very clearly as the warning that it is. One phase in particular stood out among the rest, "...some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immoral lives."
This is the exact thing that we a...

This morning I was reading through Chapter 4 in the Book of Acts and came across some scripture which I am I sure I have read dozens of times or more over the years. When I read these words this morning they spoke to me and jumped out at me to remind me of a time years ago.
It's been more than a dozen years ago when I was doing some consulting for a small drilling fluids company. I found out that the owner, Bill, was a "Christian" and was also doing volunteer prison mi...

I have said it many times and I truly believe it, "If you believe it, you will receive it." I don't know where that quote came from but it is a good quote. It is a quote of faith or as I like to think a quote of supernatural faith.
Recently The Jeremiah Group, the ministry that God has given me charge of, received the needed money to purchase a ministry tent that we needed. When...

I was just sitting here thinking about my neighbor Jesse who passed away a few days ago, and I was thinking about life. Mine has been great with many peaks and valleys, and I am sure that Jesse would have said the same thing.
In thinking about my own life all I can say is that I am very blessed. I have a lot of children and the numbers of grand-children are growing rapidly. I have my health and my kids are all healthy. I have income in a time when so ...

Much of the country is walking around spiritually dehydrated. More troubling is the fact that when we are spiritually dehydrated, we forget where to turn.
The answer is simple: Drink Living Water!
Drinking Water
In our day-to-day lives it is important that we drink plenty of water every day. It is recommended that we drink about eight 8 oz. cups (about 2 liters) of water every day. Water is your body's pri...

"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith..." 1Peter 5:8-9
I just finished reading the book of 1 Peter and when I read the familiar 1Peter 5:8 the word "whom" or "someone (NLT)" really stood out. What this word was telling me is that the devil is seeking to destroy anyone and everyone. This is what h...

Imagine walking through a forest and coming upon a big open field. Imagine that in that field all you could see was a bunch of dried up weeds. Now imagine walking into that field of ugly brown dried up weeds and finding in the middle of all of it…a flower full of life and beauty.
This beautiful flower with all of its color and beauty had flourished in the middle of all the death that surrounded it. Isn't that exactly what God wants us to do? Do...

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted a blog. I don't know why time flies like it does, but it does.
I have been "kinda" busy but then again not so much that I haven't had time to post something. Truth is I wonder if any body reads my blogs. I wonder if I am just wasting my time here or is it worth something. I could use this as a place to vent my fustrations, but then I have to be careful about what I share just in case someone actually did...

I was sitting around this morning in my lab/office/home on the drilling rig in NW Louisiana thinking about my life, my kids and my choices, their choices. Choices are so incredible in the way that they shape the future of our lives. Good choices or bad choices it really doesn't matter because each have equal influence on our lives. The influence no doubt lead in different direction but they are equal.
I have never been a big reader of poetry but I reme...
