Imagine walking through a forest and coming upon a big open field. Imagine that in that field all you could see was a bunch of dried up weeds. Now imagine walking into that field of ugly brown dried up weeds and finding in the middle of all of it…a flower full of life and beauty.
This beautiful flower with all of its color and beauty had flourished in the middle of all the death that surrounded it. Isn't that exactly what God wants us to do? Doesn't God want us to bloom and flourish right where we are?
You may be working in a job that you don't really like. Maybe you have surrounded yourself with friends that are dragging you down and keeping you from blooming. Maybe you are going through tough times and it seems like your life is all tangled up in the weeds of life. You don't have to allow your surroundings to keep you from being that beautiful flower that God wants you to be.
It all starts with making wise choices.
Making wise choices will put you on the path to the abundance, blessings, and favor that God has in store for you. God has provided everything that you need to make good and wise choices. Every day God gives you opportunities to make choices that will make your lives victorious.
You would be amazed at the number of important choices that you make each day that can greatly affect our future. These choices determine whether or not your flourish and grow, or whether you will do the opposite and wilt away like those dead weeds.
Here are some examples of choices:
- You chose what to think about each day,
- You chose your attitude
- You chose who you will associate with each day
- You will chose what to watch or listen to
- You even chose how you will look at yourself each day.
You are who you are today by the choices that you make…past or present and the choices that you make today will decide the kind of person that you will be and the kind of life that you will have in the days ahead.
GOOD NEWS - God has an awesome future planned for you!
Jeremiah 29:11 says ”for I know the plans I have for you.” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
You are God's child. God loves you and He wants good things for you. How many parents want bad things for their children?
God's plans aren't for you to live a run down and depressed life. God's plans aren't for you to live a life of troubles all the time. God's plans are just the opposite.
Ephesians 2:10 says that “…we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things He has planned for us.”
God has planned a life of abundant joy, abundant peace, and abundance in our relationship with Him. BUT…you have to make the choice to experience the abundant life and the blessings that God has planned for you.
The key is to listen to God…hear His wisdom and then chose to obey it.
Proverbs 2:6 says “for the Lord grants wisdom. From His mouth came knowledge and understanding.” God has given you the wisdom to make the right choice every time.
Remember that you've been born again… You don't have to do the same old things you used to. You don't have to make the same life destroying choices that you used to make. God gives good sense to His children. God's wisdom show us the differences between right and wrong. His wisdom show us how to make choices so that we will bloom just as He had planned.
By now you may be saying “okay then if God has these awesome plans for me why is my life so messed up.”
A lot of it has to do with the choices we make. We are children of the Most High God, but we are still human and we still make choices based on emotions rather than what is God's wisdom. Too often we tend to take the easy way out because that is what everyone else does. It takes courage to do the right thing.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if you are in Christ, you are a new creature and the old things that used to control you don't have power over you any more.
You can and need to learn to listen to the Holy Spirit tell you the right choice to make. The Holy Spirit is our Counselor and one of His main roles is to help us make wise decisions. The Holy Spirit is that nervous feeling that you get; that “still small voice” that we hear telling us when we are about to do something that is not right for us.
The Holy Spirit speaks through your inner feelings not in your head but in your heart. The more time you spend with God the more you will be able to hear His voice guiding you.
So decide today to spend more time with God. Spend more time each day reading your Bible. Spend time with friends who want to serve the Lord and will encourage you in living a God filled life.
Spend time listening to the wisdom that comes from Jesus.
